Then, the order which you play them should probably go with 1-6 first, as they are 2D. Once you hit the 3D games, it’s really hard to play the first 6 unless you’re a dedicated gamer.

The first 6 can be in any order. They are NOT interlocked in any way, and most of them have their own unique battle system. For the most part, they never build on an old system. You can skip 1 if you want too, as it has no character depth or unique battle system, but it is pretty good for setting you up for how the rest of the games will go.

7 and 8 are both available for PC if you don’t own a PS1/2/3, though copies are hard to find. Again, they have their own systems, though if you’re familiar with one Final Fantasy game, you’ll be familiar with the rest. 9, 10-1, 10-2, and 12 are all for PS2/PS3 only, though you can play them on PC using emulators.

My final opinion for the orders are: 3, 6, 7, 8, 10-1, then 10-2. The rest is optional.

Honestly, I played them in order when I was younger (by release date), but now that I’m older and am taking time to replay the old. I play them all at the same time according to how far I am in storyline. Level up during the week, and let storyline fill one of the movie spots on a Friday night. Hope this helps!
