I mean a Wolverine movie? Comic books used to be a niche market, and now people still have a stereotypical idea that comics are for kids, even after Watchmen.
Hellboy, Spiderman, Iron Man all made a lot of money, families and mainstream movie goers are seeing it. What gives?
I think people are tired of realism of the 90s (Trainspotting and such). They are also tired of being sensible. The kind of people who make (and watch) these movies are the people who grew up on comic books.
I think people nowadays would like to see a hero. Like Superman or Obama.

Beginning its life as Hero for Hire, this series introduced Luke Cage, the bulletproof, freelance super-hero. When Cage adopted the name Power Man, the series changed to follow suit, switching with issue #17 to Power Man...
I was wondering if anyone knew how to collect comic books..I am starting on my collection, its Michael Turner's Fathom, I had bought these comics over the past few years...
What gives comics their value? Is collecting regular issues ok, or is it better to collect CGC graded ones that are put in plastic casing?
Thank-you
I'm also really enjoying Soulfire...
Thanks to anyone who can help me!!
PS I heard that the Fathom movie is coming out, Megan Fox is starring...will my comic gain some value..I only have one CGC graded comic book, its the Fathom- bubbles cover (the first one) and I paid 70.00 for it..will this increase in value with the movie's opening?
Now I'm going by when I use to collect comics and also what I've read over the years so bear with me.
If you like to read them every once and awhile than get the regular issues but many collectors do is buy 2 copies, one to read and one to put safely away. Now CGC one are great if you're collecting a certain series and want to be 100% sure the issue you get is in the condition it says it is in.
Another good idea to is have the comics put safely away or CGC graded and buy the graphic novels so you can read them whenever you want.
Also buy acid-free back boards and comic bags to put them in and put them in boxes made for comics or put them in a droors without anything else besides the comics in there.
I think when a comic movie comes out the demand for the issues go up in value until the buzz from the movie goes away so yes I think that issue will go up in value for sure since it is issue # 1.
I hope that helped you out alot, you can also check out wizard magazine and it's site if you want tips on collecting comics and their values, their mag always has a value guide in the back just to see the current value of comics.
