How do I obtain copies of evidence used in a trial?
I am looking for information on how to obtain a copy of a videotape that was used as evidence in a 1991 Florida case tried in the Broward County Circuit Court. A second case (#78,915) was filed in the Florida Supreme court by "POST-NEWSWEEK STATIONS, FLORIDA INC., THE MIAMI HERALD PUBLISHING COMPANY, NEWS AND SUN-SENTINEL COMPANY, and NBC SUBSIDIARY (WTVJ-TV), INC". v. JOHN DOE, et al.
GO to the Clerk of Courts in that district and request a copy. There will most likely be a fee.

The History behind Heraldry
The word "Heraldry" is Old-German in origin, meaning army or host. It also came to mean the person who announced an advancing army, or could identify its main components, for example its knights, their method of fighting, and particularly their record of success in the field, all very important things for a commander before taking the risky decision to commence battle.
The earliest Heralds evolved almost entirely from travelling troubadours, who went about Europe regaling the nobles with songs and tales. They acted as messengers, or ambassadors, and they were free to come and go as the pleased, even across national border; their job being to find out what other nobles were getting up to. On their travels they wore a tabard that was emblazoned with their master's coat of arms, this guaranteed them free passage and protection. An attack on a Herald was considered to be an act of war against his master.
The Troubadours possessed the skill to both read and write, and they had the ability to memorize large amounts of detail about the various lords and knights they met. They were always welcome at any castle they turned up at, because they brought both news and entertainment, reciting tales about who they met on their travels.
They would record personal details about knights and lords and fortifications, and the colours and images displayed on flags and shields, sharing this information with other wandering troubadours. In this way they build up a compressive record of important families and their associated Heraldic regalia.
During battle the troubadours would be required to brief commanders on the identity and fighting qualities of the opposition, moving constantly between areas of action, identifying battle groups that were either coming on, or going off the battlefield. They also performed the task of identifying the dead and the captured. Many a captured nobleman would attempt to pass himself off as an ordinary soldier, to avoid being held for ransom. The troubadour could usually identify them. And they often acted as deputy commander in chief, making on the spot changes to the battle-plan. Out of the troubadours sprang three modern professions, that of Herald, Ambassador, and Army Staff officer.
The term Coat-of-Arms comes from the large coat worn by a Knight over his body armour. On sunny days the armour would get extremely hot, and on cold days it would freeze; hence the need for a blanket-like coat to cover it. The knight's colours were replicated on this for easy identification, hence the term Coat of Arms.
A crest was worn high on a knight's helmet, a boar's head, or antlers, or a clenched gauntlet. It was there to make him more visible to others while on the battlefield, and at the same time make him appear more impressive.
The Mottoe is a saying associated with a particular family, which subsequently became attached to Heraldic memorials.
The earliest known example of a Norman type Heraldic shield was found on a tombstone in the Alsace region of France, it is dated 1010AD.
Heraldry as we know it spread across Europe from Germany, and was brought to England by the Normans in 1066, eventually finding its way to Ireland shortly after. The early Norman/English Coats-of-Arms originally carried fairly simple geometric designs, and later came images of Lions, Stags, Castles, and Weaponry.
When this Norman style of portraying Heraldry reached Ireland, it began to draw on images already present in the country, images that harked back thousands of years into the ancient past, images like the Tree of life (the oak tree), or the Salmon of Wisdom, and the Serpent of good health.
Ancient Irish and Greek and Roman civilisations all regarded the Oak Tree as the Tree of life, a belief that stems from the vein-like pattern on the back of every Oak Leaf. Ancient Celtic inaugurations were conducted with the new chieftain embracing the Oak Tree, whilst uttering sacred Druidic saying. Many places in Ireland are called after these inauguration oak trees; places like Derry, Derrymore, Adare, Magh Adhair, all commemorate the place where an inauguration Oak Tree once stood.
To inaugurate means simply to bore someone or plant someone into the very earth of the clan territory. Druidic priests, called Augurs, performed this ancient ceremony; today an Augur is a machine that bores down into the earth. The town of Augsburg in Germany has the very same origins, pointing to the strong Celto-German origins of the Irish People. And in common with the Irish many German Coats of Arms contain Oak trees and Serpents.
The Latin Robur Querus means "great oak", and people with the name Robert are called after this. Pope Robert, who reigned in the middle ages, carried an Oak Tree on his papal coat-of-arms; which coincidently is the great symbol of Paganism. The word Pagan simply means "People of the land".
The ancient Irish looked upon the SALMON as source of wisdom. All the clans had a special pool, where Druidic priests would ritually feed Salmon, to ensure the chieftains were endowed with wisdom. This tradition still features in O'Neill's Coat Of Arms.
The Serpent of good health has its roots in ancient Egypt, when every Pharaoh carried the image of the spitting cobra on his head, to ward off malignant spirits that could bring ill health.
In ancient Greece the serpent was similarly regarded. And today, whenever a medical physician is newly qualified, they must sign a piece of paper called the Hippocratic Oath; -- and on it is a sword entwined with a serpent-the Caduceus.
Today whenever a carved image of the Roman God of Health is found, it is always depicted with a serpent entwined around a sword.
In Druidic Ireland the serpent was likewise regarded as the protector of good health, and it features strongly in a great number of family Crests. When St Patrick said he would drive the serpents out of Ireland, he was stating his intention to supplant the Druidic tradition with the Christian tradition. Everywhere one goes in Ireland today they can see links to our ancient past, like in the games we play, and the mysterious carved stones that dot the countryside, and our county flags, and especially in our colourful Family Crests.
Today Heraldry can be seen in civic flags, and the regimental plates on every army vehicle, as well on government buildings and institutions. It can also be seen in the multi-coloured jerseys of players on sports field, and at a horse race, where jockeys wear coloured and patterned vests so they can be identified from a great distance, as was their original purpose. When most people think of Heraldry they think of Richard the Lion Heart riding into battle dressed in full Heraldic regalia, with a richly decorated shield and sur-coat. These things did indeed happen, but the origins of heraldry lie far back in the misty world of the Ancient Celts, and their story is a rich interweave of tapestry, with each stitch representing a colourful strand of European history.

After the Declaration of Independence in 1776, which marked the official beginning of the American national identity, the new nation needed a history, and part of that history would be expressed visually. Most of early American art (from the late 18th century through the early 19th century) consists of history painting and portraits. Painters such as Gilbert Stuart made portraits of the newly elected government officials, while John Singleton Copley was painting emblematic portraits for the increasingly prosperous merchant class, and painters such as John Trumbull were making large battle scenes of the Revolutionary War.
Nineteenth century

America's first well-known school of paintinghe Hudson River Schoolppeared in 1820. As with music and literature, this development was delayed until artists perceived that the New World offered subjects unique to itself; in this case the westward expansion of settlement brought the transcendent beauty of frontier landscapes to painters' attention.
The Hudson River painters' directness and simplicity of vision influenced such later artists as Winslow Homer (1836-1910), who depicted rural Americahe sea, the mountains, and the people who lived near them. Middle-class city life found its painter in Thomas Eakins (1844-1916), an uncompromising realist whose unflinching honesty undercut the genteel preference for romantic sentimentalism. Henry Ossawa Tanner who studied with Thomas Eakins was one of the first important African American painters.
Paintings of the Great West, particularly the act of conveying the sheer size of the land and the cultures of the native people living on it, were starting to emerge as well. Artists such as George Catlin broke from traditional styles of showing land, most often done to show how much a subject owned, to show the West and its people as honestly as possible.
Many painters who are considered American spent some time in Europe and met other European artists in Paris and London, such as Mary Cassatt and Whistler.
Twentieth Century

Controversy soon became a way of life for American artists. In fact, much of American painting and sculpture since 1900 has been a series of revolts against tradition. "To hell with the artistic values," announced Robert Henri (1865-1929). He was the leader of what critics called the Ashcan school of painting, after the group's portrayals of the squalid aspects of city life. American realism became the new direction for American visual artists at the turn of the century. In photography the Photo-Secession movement led by Alfred Steiglitz made pathways for photography as an emerging art form. Soon the Ashcan school artists gave way to modernists arriving from Europehe cubists and abstract painters promoted by the photographer Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) at his 291 Gallery in New York City. John Marin, Marsden Hartley, Alfred Henry Maurer, Arthur Dove, Henrietta Shore, Stuart Davis, Stanton MacDonald-Wright, Morgan Russell, Patrick Henry Bruce, and Gerald Murphy were some important early American modernist painters.
After World War I many American artists also rejected the modern trends emanating from the Armory Show and European influences such as those from the School of Paris. Instead they chose to adopt academic realism in depicting American urban and rural scenes. Charles Sheeler, and Charles Demuth were referred to as Precisionists and the artists from the Ashcan school or American realism: notably George Bellows, Everett Shinn, George Benjamin Luks, William Glackens, and John Sloan and others developed socially conscious imagery in their works.
The American Southwest
Georgia O'Keeffe, Ram's Head White Hollyhock and Little Hills, 1935, the Brooklyn Museum
Following the first World War, the completion of the Santa Fe Railroad enabled American settlers to travel across the west, as far as the California coast. New artists colonies started growing up around Santa Fe and Taos, the artists primary subject matter being the native people and landscapes of the Southwest. Images of the Southwest became a popular form of advertising, used most significantly by the Santa Fe Railroad to entice settlers to come west and enjoy the nsullied landscapes. Walter Ufer, Bert Greer Phillips, E. Irving Couse, William Henry Jackson, and Georgia O'Keeffe are some of the more prolific artists of the Southwest.
Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance was another significant development in American art. In the 1920s and 30s a new generation of educated and politically astute African-American men and women emerged who sponsored literary societies and art and industrial exhibitions to combat racist stereotypes. The movement showcases the range of talents within African-American communities. Though the movement included artists from across America, it was centered in Harlem, and work from Harlem graphic artist Aaron Douglas and photographer James VanDerZee became emblematic of the movement. Some of the artists include Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Charles Alston, Augusta Savage, Archibald Motley, Lois Mailou Jones, Palmer Hayden and Sargent Johnson.
New Deal Art
Thomas Hart Benton, People of Chilmark (Figure Composition), 1920, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC.
When the Great Depression hit, president Roosevelt New Deal created several public arts programs. The purpose of the programs was to give work to artists and decorate public buildings, usually with a national theme. The first of these projects, the Public Works of Art Project (PWAP), was created after successful lobbying by the unemployed artists of the Artists' Union. The PWAP lasted less than one year, and produced nearly 15,000 works of art. It was followed by the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration (FAP/WPA) in 1935, which funded some of the most well-known American artists. Several separate and related movements began and developed during the Great Depression including American scene painting, Regionalism, and Social Realism. Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuart Curry, Grant Wood, Ben Shahn, Joseph Stella, Reginald Marsh, Isaac Soyer, Raphael Soyer, and Jack Levine were some of the best known artists.
Abstract Expressionism

Franz Kline, Painting Number 2, 1954, The Museum of Modern Art
In the years after World War II, a group of New York artists formed the first American movement to exert major influence internationally: abstract expressionism. This term, which had first been used in 1919 in Berlin, was used again in 1946 by Robert Coates in The New York Times, and was taken up by the two major art critics of that time, Harold Rosenberg and Clement Greenberg. It has always been criticized as too large and paradoxical, yet the common definition implies the use of abstract art to express feelings, emotions, what is within the artist, and not what stands without.
The first generation of abstract expressionists was composed of artists such as Jackson Pollock, Willem De Kooning, Mark Rothko, Franz Kline, Arshile Gorky, Robert Motherwell, Clyfford Still, Barnett Newman, Adolph Gottlieb, Phillip Guston, Ad Reinhardt, Hans Hofmann, James Brooks, Richard Pousette-Dart, William Baziotes, Mark Tobey, Bradley Walker Tomlin, Theodoros Stamos, Jack Tworkov and others. Though the numerous artists encompassed by this label had widely different styles, contemporary critics found several common points between them.
Many first generation abstract expressionists were influenced both by the Cubists' works (black & white copies in art reviews and the works themselves at the 291 Gallery or the Armory Show), and by the European Surrealists, most of them abandoned formal composition and representation of real objects; and by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. Often the abstract expressionists decided to try instinctual, intuitive, spontaneous arrangements of space, line, shape and color. Abstract Expressionism can be characterized by two major elements - the large size of the canvases used, (partially inspired by Mexican frescoes and the works they made for the WPA in the 1930s), and the strong and unusual use of brushstrokes and experimental paint application with a new understanding of process.
The emphasis and intensification of color and large open expanses of surface were two of the principles applied to the movement called Color field Painting. Ad Reinhardt, Adolph Gottlieb, Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still and Barnett Newman were categorized as such. Another movement was called Action Painting, characterized by spontaneous reaction, powerful brushstrokes, dripped and splashed paint and the strong physical movements used in the production of a painting. Jackson Pollock is an example of an Action Painter: his creative process, incorporating thrown and dripped paint from a stick or poured directly from the can; he revolutionized painting methods. Willem de Kooning famously said about Pollock "he broke the ice for the rest of us." Ironically Pollock's large repetitious expanses of linear fields are also characteristic of Color Field painting as well, and art critic Michael Fried pointed that out in his essay for the catalog of Three American painters: Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski, Frank Stella at the Fogg Art Museum in 1965. Despite the disagreements between art critics, Abstract Expressionism marks a turning-point in the history of American art: the 1940s and 1950s saw international attention shift from European -Parisian- art, to American -New York- art.
Color field painting went on as a movement: artists in the 1950s, such as Clyfford Still, Barnett Newman, Robert Motherwell, and in the 1960s, Jules Olitski, Kenneth Noland, and Helen Frankenthaler, sought to make paintings which would eliminate superfluous rhetoric with large, flat areas of color.
After Abstract Expressionism
During the 1950s abstract painting in America evolved into movements such as Neo-Dada, Post painterly abstraction, Op Art, hard-edge painting, Minimal art, Shaped canvas painting, Lyrical Abstraction, and the continuation of Abstract expressionism. As a response to the tendency toward abstraction imagery emerged through various new movements like Pop Art, the Bay Area Figurative Movement and later in the 1970s Neo-expressionism.
Lyrical Abstraction along with the Fluxus movement and Postminimalism (a term first coined by Robert Pincus-Witten in the pages of Artforum in 1969) sought to expand the boundaries of abstract painting and Minimalism by focusing on process, new materials and new ways of expression. Postminimalism often incorporating industrial materials, raw materials, fabrications, found objects, installation, serial repetition, and often with references to Dada and Surrealism is best exemplified in the sculptures of Eva Hesse. Lyrical Abstraction, Conceptual Art, Postminimalism, Earth Art, Video, Performance art, Installation art, along with the continuation of Fluxus, Abstract Expressionism, Color Field Painting, Hard-edge painting, Minimal Art, Op art, Pop Art, Photorealism and New Realism extended the boundaries of Contemporary Art in the mid-1960s through the 1970s.
Lyrical Abstraction shares similarities with Color Field Painting and Abstract Expressionism especially in the freewheeling usage of paint - texture and surface. Direct drawing, calligraphic use of line, the effects of brushed, splattered, stained, squeegeed, poured, and splashed paint superficially resemble the effects seen in Abstract Expressionism and Color Field Painting. However the styles are markedly different.
During the 1960s and 1970s painters as powerful and influential as Adolph Gottlieb, Phillip Guston, Lee Krasner, Cy Twombly, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Richard Diebenkorn, Josef Albers, Elmer Bischoff, Agnes Martin, Al Held, Sam Francis, Ellsworth Kelly, Morris Louis, Gene Davis, Frank Stella, Joan Mitchell, Friedel Dzubas, and younger artists like Brice Marden, Robert Mangold, Sam Gilliam, Sean Scully, Elizabeth Murray, Walter Darby Bannard, Larry Zox, Ronnie Landfield, Ronald Davis, Dan Christensen, Susan Rothenberg, Ross Bleckner, Richard Tuttle, Julian Schnabel, and dozens of others produced vital and influential paintings.

Nighthawks (1942) by Edward Hopper is one of his best known works, Art Institute of Chicago
Members of the next artistic generation favored a different form of abstraction: works of mixed media. Among them were Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008) and Jasper Johns (1930- ), who used photos, newsprint, and discarded objects in their compositions. Pop artists, such as Andy Warhol (1930-1987), Larry Rivers (1923-2002), and Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997), reproduced, with satiric care, everyday objects and images of American popular cultureoca-Cola bottles, soup cans, comic strips. Realism has also been popular in the United States, despite modernist tendencies, such as the city scenes by Edward Hopper and the illustrations of Norman Rockwell. In certain places, for example Chicago, Abstract Expressionism never caught on; in Chicago, the dominant art style was grotesque, symbolic realism, as exemplified by the Chicago Imagists Cosmo Campoli (1923-1997), Jim Nutt (1938- ), Ed Paschke (1939-2004), and Nancy Spero (1926- ).

The comic book, the cartoon strip and the single-panel gag are recurring motifs in twentieth-century art, providing a platform for narrative, political critique, graphic clarity, and, of course, fun. "Cult Fiction: Art & Comics" examines the work of artists who produce comics and cartoons as part of their practice, as well as those who employ the language of the comic in their work, borrowing from stylistic sources across high and low culture. Accompanying a U.K. exhibition tour, and designed by Fantagraphics art director Jacob Covey, this catalogue's bold layout complements the artworks included in its pages. An essay by Paul Gravett, a writer and curator who has worked in comics publishing and promotion for over 20 years, illuminates the long-standing love affair between fine art and comics, emphasizing contemporary practitioners in Britain and the U.S., including Laylah Ali, Glen Baxter, Daniel Clowes, Liz Craft, R. Crumb, Adam Dant, Julie Doucet, Debbie Dreschler, Marcel Dzama, Mark Kalesniko, Kerstin Kartscher, Killoffer, Chad McCail, Paul McDevitt, Kerry James Marshall, Kim Pace, Raymond Pettibon, Olivia Plender, Jon Pylypchuk, James Pyman, Joe Sacco, David Shrigley, Posy Simmonds, Richard Slee, Carol Swain, Stephane Blanquet, Melinda Gebbie, Alan Moore and Travis Millard. Specially commissioned self-portraits and question-and-answer forms filled out by hand by all contributing artists make "Cult Fiction" one-of-a-kind.
Question: What does Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye (1951) have in common with Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther (1774)? Answer: Actually a great deal. They are classics of cult fiction and share many attributes. Cult fiction is a reader-created genre. A "cult" book can appear within any type of literary genre--for instance, romance, mystery, science fiction--but will achieve cult status only on the basis of reader response. It has qualities that "speak" to a reader, who may feel that it has been written for him or her alone; yet this very personal appeal is widespread, and such a book may grow in popularity almost as an underground movement, inspiring a generation of readers and sometimes enduring as a mainstream classic. Though amazingly diverse, such books also have astonishing commonalities pervasive enough to qualify them as comprising a genre. Classic Cult Fiction is a history, analysis, and reference guide to books that have become "bibles" to generations of Europeans and Americans over the past two hundred years. Though "canon formation" is an awesome prospect, sure to lead to challenges by scholars and readers alike, author Thomas Whissen fearlessly identifies the top fifty classic cult books, first presenting an informed and witty interpretation of the phenomenon and its characteristics with examples from different cultures and periods. Cult fiction is shown to be a product of the Romantic movement and a reflection of the persistent romantic temperament in Western civilization. The work offers insights into the mentality of the Golden Age of Cult Fiction, the 1960s, by analyzing the cult books that both influenced the age and were influenced by it. The fifty individualworks are each discussed relative to time and place, impact, and audience psychology and analyzed in terms of common cult attributes. A chronological listing of cult fiction adds a number of titles not chosen for the top fifty. An original approach to criticism, this literary companion argues the case for cult fiction as a distinct genre and offers fifty fresh and thought provoking essays to back up the contention.

Soldering Jump Rings Using Sterling Silver 925 Solder
If you’re momentous about making good silver jewellery, knowledge to fuse is a critical skill. Not only will your jewellery look better and more ‘buffed’, but your clasps and fastenings will be stronger and more stable as well. If you forecast to trade your sterling silver jewellery commercially, you will also have to ensure that the meet you use 925 silver bond and conforms to the same hallmarking values as the findings to be able to call your jewellery ‘genuine’ silver 925.
Soldering is actually far easier than you may first simulate. You do necessary to ensure that your work apparent cook resilient and that you have considered all wellbeing issues before beginning. Make certainly the dash you are working in is gratis from strew and well ventilated and that you have organized your tackle before early. A couple of wellbeing specs is a worthwhile investment as they defend your eyes if impurities in thesterling silver 925 or sterling silver join start the liquid metal to ‘spit’. The easiest and most controllable passion informant to work with is a butane torch, which is very akin to the kind worn in kitchens. These are accurate for small jobs such as soldering flinch rings. You will also hardship change, a charcoal frustrate, safety soak and a bind pot and forceps (copper or synthetic). A voluntary very, and one that can help you a great trade in particularly fussy jobs, is what is commonly termed a ‘serving’ or ‘third’ hand. This is a tabletop tool that has crocodile clamps that can be diagonal to think your work in place, departure both hands gratis to work.
Before you begin soldering, make clearly that your start encircle is spotlessly neat with no smear letters or dust on the outside. Ensure that the seams of the bound feel fit together cleanly. Solder does not stuff gaps, so a good packed fit is basic for a high quality control. Make certainly the two trimmings of the vault group skip together, as you will be with this tension to seize the closing influence of the vault sphere. If needed, use an excellent jeweller’s store to fell off the ends so that they meet entirely.
Place the jolt team on the charcoal chunk or in the ‘plateful hands’ clips and gently put a very small quantity of flux on the join. Flux is a substance cleaning agent that removes any 925 silver oxide from the outside the bound sphere and allows the link to surge liberally when heated. Silver 925 link is normally sold as a high expanse of repair that can be cut with jeweller’s snips into the right mass for each job. Place a small sample of bond on the ridge Once you are joyful with the situation of the join, gently request the cook to the join, custody the flame pitiful fairly than alert in one spot so that the connect flows evenly across and into the layer. As rapidly as the repair liquefies, delete the boil and allocate the start tinkle to cool. When it is cool, place it in the soak bath to remove any rust. shouldn't Hollywood make a 'sandman' movie?what do u think?
neil gaiman's 'the sandman' series is one of the greats in the comics-world.it's time they should make a movie.isn't it?
I think that adapting Sandman for the big screen will be a notoriously difficult project and I am not sure that any adaptation will even remotely do it justice. I just have a gut instinct that Sandman will be one of those cases where the adaptation doesn't stay true to the original.
On another note, one book that can and should have been adapted for the screen is Good Omens by Gaiman and Pratchett. It was on the verge of being adapted, but the plug got pulled at the last minute. Hopefully, someone will take an interest in it and revive it.

Well-known comics creators take comicdom's greatest challenge: to completely write and draw a full 24 page comics story in 24 straight hours. A combination of energetic improvisational effort and a marathon effort, the 24 hour comics challenge is a rite of passage in the comics field. Stories include: The very first 24 hour comic, created by Scott McCloud (Understanding Comics), comicdom's leading theoretician and inventor of the challenge. Instead of doing one 24 page story, former X-Men artist Paul Smith (Leave It to Chance) created six shorter stories totaling 24 pages, including the true tale of his father's capture and rescue during World War II. "Counter" by Mary Jane writer Sean McKeever is a tale of awakening in a slightly different dimension. Dave Sim provides "Bigger, Blacker Kiss," a story created in the midst of his work on the recently completed 300 issue opus Cerebus the Aardvark. Tone Rodriguez, the artist of The Adventures of Snake Plissken, provides an original science fiction action adventure. And more
Ken Dodd is one of England's greatest icons and is recognised worldwide as one of the funniest comedians of the last 100 years. I thought it would be interesting to write the story of this famous icon from his birth in Knotty Ash, Liverpool on the 8th. November 1927 to his present day status as a great English Icon. If you want a good laugh by a genius comedian than please look at one of his DVD's – you won't regret it.
Ken Dodd was the son of a Coal Merchant, Arthur Dodd and his loving Mother, Sarah Dodd. He went to the Knottyash School, and sang in the local church choir of St. Johns Church, Knottyash. At the age of Seven, he was dared by his School chums to ride his bike with his eyes shut..... And he did. For about 10 feet and the bike hit the kerb. As did the young Doddy, open mouthed onto the tarmac. Resulting in his Famous Teeth you see today.
It was around this time he became interested in showbiz. After seeing an advert in a comic, " Fool Your Teachers, Amaze Your Friends - Send 6d in Stamps and Become a Ventriloquist ! " And he Promptly sent off for the book. Not long after, His Father bought him a Ventriloquist's dummy and Doddy called it Charlie Brown. He started entertaining at the local orphanage, then at various other local community functions.
At 14yrs. He Left the High Holt Grammar School, and went into his Dad's Coal business. Though by his early 20's had branched out on his own. Selling Pots, Pans, and Brushes. And invented his own version of Softsoap for the Liverpool Housewives. He worked hard by day, selling his wares round the streets of Liverpool. And by night, became a regular and very popular performer on ' The Club's ' Circuit as " Professor Yaffle Chuckabutty. Operatic Tenor and Sausage-Knotter.
He Got his big break at the age of 27. In September 1954 he appeared at the Nottingham Playhouse. A nervous young man, he sat in a local Milk Bar for most of the Afternoon going over and over his lines before going to the theatre. Although he can't remember much of the actual act of that night. He did recall.,, " Well at least they didn't boo me off. " But there wasn't much fear of that, as Dodd's act went from strength to strength. Eventually Topping the bill at Blackpool in 1958 !
And in the late 1950's came to little guys we all came to love.,,The Diddymen of Knottyash Work the Broken Biscuit Repair Works, the Jam Butty Mines, The Moggy Ranch and the Treacle Wells. A very industrious town indeed.
Ken Also started to work in radio with the BBC. " The Ken Dodd Show " and " Ken Dodd's Laughter Show " Were all extremely popular productions.
Television also beckoned and in the late 50's the Ken Dodd Show was broadcast Live from the Opera House in Blackpool. Other Series followed. The Ken Dodd Show : Doddy's Music Box : The Good Old Days : Ken Dodd's World Of Laughter. and of Course, Ken Dodd and the Diddymen.
Ken entered hit the big time in 1965 with THE longest ever run at the London Palladium. 42 Weeks to be exact. Which broke all box office records. And for which he was awarded a gold watch by the manager.
At the same time Ken began his singing career Before 1964's 'Tears' on EMI's Columbia label, Ken had a big 'hit' in 1960, with his first ever 45 rpm single 'Love is Like a Violin' on EMI's 'rival' label, Decca, and he followed it up with 'Once in Every Lifetime' in 1961. The record numbers are Decca F 11248 and F11355.
His now famous theme tune "Happiness" Was Released in 1964. However, his biggest hit though was "Tears" also in 1964. Which sold over 2 Million copies, earning Ken Dodd 2 gold discs. And the next year. "Promises, 1966."
It was the 1960's that also saw Ken entered into the Guinness Book of Records for the Longest Joke Telling session EVER. 1,500 jokes in 3 and a half Hours. People were queuing up at the theatre in Liverpool, and going into the theatre in relays to hear him.
Although Ken isn't on the telly as much as he used to be, Ken Still gives marathon performances. All over the U.K. Ken Dodd is currently doing around 4 shows a week at various locations across England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
The Chinese call Britain 'The Island of Hero's' which I think sums up what we British are all about. We British are inquisitive and competitive and are always looking over the horizon to the next adventure and discovery.
My family tree has been traced back to the early Kings of England from the 7th Century AD. I am also a direct descendent of Sir Christopher Wren which has given me an interest in English History which is great fun to research.
I have recently decided to write articles on my favourite subjects: English Sports, English History, English Icons, English Discoveries and English Inventions. At present I have written over 100 articles which I call "An Englishman's Favourite Bits Of England" in various Volumes. I think I've been raped. How sore were you after your hymen was broken?
I got trashed at a party last Friday and blacked out. I woke up early the next morning--still drunk--with flashes of a memory wherein I was violenty raped. I managed to convince myself it was a dream, but when I went upstairs to change my tampon, I found that it was gone, that my vagina was sore, that my pants were unbuttoned and that there were bruise marks in the shape of fingerprints on my neck. I've already taken the morning after pill. Today is the second day after the party, and I am still sore and suffering from a severe loss of appetite. I was a virgin, so it should be relatively easy to visit the doctor and determine whether my hymen is intact.
Look, I'd prefer if you'd reserve the judgement and just offer me some advice because I think I'm about to go through a very dark period in what has already been a pretty rotten life, because I thought I was in the company of friends, and because I've since sworn off alcohol--which I rarely abused before this incident.
awww'
honey
go to the police
and
get a STD checked up.
I suggest you visit ur doctor. It's not safe.

Many of us are being misled. Claiming to know the “pals” of presidential aspirants, dark secrets about public officials, and hidden causes of the current economic crisis, those who spread rumors know precisely what they are doing. They are sometimes able to derail political candidates, injure companies and reputations, even damage democratic governance. And in the era of the Internet, they know more about manipulating the mechanics of false rumors—social cascades, group polarization, and biased assimilation—than you do. They also know that the presumed correctives—publishing balanced information, issuing corrections, and trusting to the marketplace of ideas—do not always work. A pioneer in the effort “to design regulation around the ways people behave” ( The Wall Street Journal ), Cass R. Sunstein uses examples from the real world and from behavioral studies to explain why certain rumors spread like wildfire and what we can do to avoid being misled.
