1 who the hell is max suppose to be
2 why is max giving US ARMY officials orders
3 I am pretty sure max is not a government official so why is he a threat to the 'losers' and makes them sneak back into the USA
4 why would max be shot in the arm after he ruined the losers lives
5 where are all the law enforcement agencies while all these shoot outs are going
6 who goes on a special ops mission to sneak into a hospital to see their baby being born
7 is it that easy to high jack a military helicopter and then fly it
8 why would max shoot his umbrella woman (as soon as I saw that I stopped taking the movie seriously)
Am I the only one who though this movie had no plot???, the shoot outs were great but this movie put the comic book to shame
I'll explain:
1. Max is a made-up figure that, in this particular universe, ranks higher than any CIA agent and, according to the military, doesn't exist.
2. Refer to question one. Also, this story is based off of the comic, so it's not going to follow all of our government's rules to a T.
3. He is a government official. He is a threat because he has the power to kill them off when he sees fit. This is loosely based off of a big-brother-type conspiracy-this explains his authority to kill them.
4. Clay was angry at him, and Max was testing him by saying that he couldn't shoot him, so Clay did.
5. For the most part, there was no need for them because the military was present. On another note, it takes time for law enforcement to respond, so you have to take into account the location of the scene as well as how quickly it is taking place (as the time in the movie may be different than real-time due to showing multiple points of view. You should also consider whether there was anyone around to call the law enforcement, such as civilians, because you can assume that those taking part in the shoot-outs would not call the law on themselves.
6. I suppose they do. For one thing, they are still wanted criminals because Max did get away. Pooch wouldn't have been able to walk into the hospital and tell them who he was, because he was supposed to be dead. This would leave an obvious paper trail (or even video, considering most hospitals would have had security cameras) that could also put his wife/son in danger by showing that he had contacted them.
7. No. It's not easy at all. On the other hand, they are trained to be an elite team, and they are all professionals. They would also be able to make it very believable if only because they would know regulations that come with being in the military (this coupled with the fact that they were reacting to a distress call and would therefore be racing against the clock and paying less attention to the inconsistencies in their stories I'm sure they were more concerned about the person that they thought had broken his neck). Pooch is an expert at operating any vehicle. It's part of his character.
On another note, I don't see how you can say that the movie put the comics to shame and complain about this scene at the same time. This scene is almost exactly the same as a scene in issue 1. So, unless you are getting confused with the WWII version of the Losers (which is an entierly different comic than the Veritgo version) you are contradicting yourself somewhat.
8. Max shot her because he's a freak, plain and simple. This what we call character development. In shooting her for something as simple as losing control of the umbrella due to the wind, we see that he has no sympathy nor value for human life. Would you have prefered he had a dialouge with someone about how he doesn't care about human life? God, I hope not.
I liked the movie. Now sure, they did try to put a lot of content into one movie, and yes, it is easier to put the story into 37 issues, but that doesn't mean that the movie was garbage, just that it might have been better as a series of movies.
If there's anything else you didn't understand about the movie, feel free to ask! I'd be glad to answer any questions. I hope this helps you!

Leader of the Aotobots, Optimus Prime bravely guides the heroic Transformers to wage battles to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons. Be brave and bold in this officially licensed Transformers
Optimus Prime is the leader of the "good guys", also called the Autobots, in the world of Transformers. His ship crashed on earth, after which he was unconscious for years that numbered in the millions, until an earthquake woke his ship's systems in 1984. The repair system fixed him, and adapted him so that he could transform himself into an Earth-type vehicle.
Optimus leads the Autobots against the Decepticons, the evil members of the Transformers universe. He is generally depicted as a compassionate and brave character, who does his best for the good of the universe. He is driven by his strength of justice and purpose, and he dedicated himself to protecting all life, including people living on Earth.
Optimus Prime in his original form can transform into a cab-over truck. The cab itself can transform into a robot of Prime, with a laser rifle and much strength. In his chest is the Autobot Matrix, also known as the Creation Matrix, which is carried by each Autobot leader and passed down as time goes on.
If you go by the comic book franchise, this says that Prime's direct predecessor was Sentinel Prime, but Optimus already has the talisman when Alpha Trion rebuilds him from what he was before. His trailer can disconnect, and it can transform into the Combat Deck, which is a mobile command headquarters and battle station, equipped with an Auto-launcher and artillery weapons. It also serves as a radio antenna for communications on the battlefield, between the various Autobots.
The Combat Deck also is able to launch the third component of Prime, which is Roller, a scout buggy who can sneak behind enemy lines. The senses of Optimus are tied into those of Roller, so he knows what Roller does. If any component is injured, this is felt by the rest. Even though Prime can survive the destruction of either of his components, they cannot survive without him.
In the 2007 film, Optimus Prime came to Earth after Bumblebee sent a beacon to his comrades. Prime landed in an area outside the Tranquility areas, and Mikaela and Sam, (the humans) watched, as Prime transformed himself and left the landing area. He became an Earth truck, and met up with the other Autobots and the humans in an alleyway. Prime then assumed his robot form while the humans watched in astonishment. After he knew who they were, he explained their need to find Allspark.
Optimus Prime told his troops to wait outside the house where Sam lived. The humans thought that Optimus' heavy footfalls were an earthquake. He tried to hide, also unsuccessfully. Sam nearly had a panic attack, so Prime ordered his fellow Autobots to fall back. Ratchet was choked by power lines, which caused even more problems. Prime's old friend Ironhide was in favor of killing Sam's parents, but Optimus reminded him of their oath not to kill, and Sam's parents were kidnapped.
Optimus sent the Autobots after the humans, and he himself intercepted the vehicle they were in. He ripped the roof off and made his displeasure obvious at the attempted apprehension of the the humans. Optimus ordered his friends to take the weapons off the other agents, and told the Autobots to scatter. In the meantime, he took Mikaela and Sam with him and hid under a bridge. The humans were recaptured.
Optimus sadly left Bumblebee and the humans, because he didn't want to use deadly force to retrieve them. Prime located the Allspark, but he was adamant about not harming the humans. Ironhide was seemingly OK with the use of deadly force, but Prime spoke out against it. Optimus Prime sacrificed his life to destroy the Allspark, so that the humans wouldn't have to pay for the Cybertrons' mistakes.

FEATURED ON MORE THAN TWENTY BEST-OF LISTS, INCLUDING TIME, AMAZON, E! AND PUBLISHERS WEEKLY!  Hark! A Vagrant is an uproarious romp through history and literature seen through the sharp, contemporary lens of New Yorker cartoonist and comics sensation Kate Beaton. No era or tome emerges unscasthed as Beaton rightly skewers the Western world's revolutionaries, leaders, sycophants, and suffragists while equally honing her wit on the hapless heroes, heroines, and villains of the best-loved fiction. She deftly points out what really happened when Brahms fell asleep listening to Liszt, that the world's first hipsters were obviously the Incroyables and the Merveilleuses from eighteenth-century France, that Susan B. Anthony is, of course, a Samantha, and that the polite banality of Canadian culture never gets old. Hark! A Vagrant features sexy Batman, the true stories behind classic Nancy Drew covers, and Queen Elizabeth doing the albatross. As the 500,000 unique monthly visitors to harkavagrant.com already know, no one turns the ironic absurdities of history and literature into comedic fodder as hilariously as Beaton.
Presents humorous takes on history, literature, and popular culture, with commentaries on such historical figures as Nikola Tesla, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Napoleon. Many critics have noted that the film feels like two distinct pieces: the first, a lighthearted comedy, and the second a dark tragedy with comic elements. Why do you think that Benigni divided the film so sharply into two halves? What affect does it have on the aurdience? Is "Life Is Beautiful" principally a comedy or tragedy?
PLEASE HELP, thank you very much.
LOVED this movie. I think the director divided the film into two different parts because there were two different perspectives during the holocaust: the Germans and the Jews. It's only effect was allowing the audience to form their opinions about both sides, to sympathize with the Jews or to try to understand a Nazis mentality or brutality if you will to honest to people. At the end of the day I would still call it a tragedy.
CCW: 3.61: LAST RANTS! Are comic-book readers allowed to criticize the business of comics?
The Marx Brothers' films are packed with slapstick and obvious jokes, gags, puns, pratfalls, and mimicry. But beneath the laughs is a serious and biting condemnation of American culture. This book examines historical events, political practices, economic conditions, manners and customs, literary subjects, and popular entertainment as satirized in the films and considers the ways in which the films were relevant in their era and remain so today.

When Art Spiegelman's Maus won the Pulitzer Prize in 1992, it marked a new era for comics. Comics are now taken seriously by the same academic and cultural institutions that long dismissed the form. FrancoBelgian comics are comics that are created in Belgium and France. These countries have a long tradition in comics and comic books, where they are known as BDs, an abbreviation of bande dessine (literally drawn strip) in French and stripverhalen (literally strip stories) in Dutch. The Flemish Belgian comic books (originally written in Dutch) are influenced by francophone comics, yet have a distinctly different style. Many other European comics, especially Italian comics, are strongly influenced by FrancoBelgian comics.40 of Belgium (Wallonia and a majority of the inhabitants of Brussels) and France share the French language, making them a unique market where national identity is often blurred. Although Switzerland contributes less to the total body of work, it is significant that many scholars point to a Francophone Swiss, Rodolphe Tpffer, as the true father of comics. This choice is still controversial, with critics asserting that Tpffers work is not necessarily connected to the creation of the form as it is now known in the region. Mad magazine is clever, palpable humor that makes impotant social commentary while occassionally appealing to your sentimental side. Comedy that defies conventional structures is what subscribers can anticipate with certainty when in preparing to read Mad. Mad Magazine is part of the TV and Celebrity family of magazines. It is generally sold to individuals and businesses and quite often can be found in a reception room or waiting room of a company or a professional office like a dentist, doctor, health club, gym, or beauty and hair salon. A full year magazine subscription to Mad Magazine includes issues delivered right to your mailbox.
Everyone's talking about it. The new revolutionary step in the globalization movement, BPO is big. World famous comedy past master Russell Peters recently released album "Outsourced" comments on it. Mad magazine, the cult comic book all over the world, is getting in on the act. It's all over the media. But it's not all just the jocular idea of the caller-helpline relationship. The subtlety of its global economic impact is becoming very apparent and its benefits are being seen all over.
Let's first take a simple definition oriented look at outsourcing and logically break down which of its benefits are results of the idea itself and which of the benefits are results of economic externalities. Don't worry the idea is pretty simple. Picture a large company looking to cut costs. The company delegates a particular function of the business say distribution to another company that's specialized in this field. Why? Well the reasons that are immediately visible have to do mostly with cutting costs. But on closer investigation, a far greater number of benefits are visible. And the new reality is this: The big guns aren’t the only guys who are in on the action. Small companies are starting to see the solid "worth it to go after" benefits. And as a result huge industries have arisen to serve these growing requirements. India, South Africa and many other nations are becoming centers of this growth. India's growth of the BPO industry has been truly spectacular. Employment levels in this field in India have shot up tremendously. This is "Outsourced India". A nation that is a result of the outsource India biz mentality, an economic state of affairs within which huge caskets of cash await the brave few that are willing to venture the initial risk, this India, Outsourced India has improved standards of living raised the nations GDP and most definitely thrown up a plethora of new stably founded, long term employment opportunities. To outsource Indiaand other countries that are big on this industry is a future imperative for success for firms there.
Why? There are numerous benefits to small business that levels the playing field immensely. Firstly, as I have already mentioned, costs will drop drastically. How? It basically converts overheads into variable costs. By employing an outside resource to do say accounting, the fixed costs involved are transferred to the outsourcing service company. Thus more capital is available to put into other facets of the business. This will therefore attract more investors as the cash that is released through outsourcing can be implemented into cash generating ventures rather than formalities. Another very important Side effect of outsourcing is lower product/service costs i.e. Prices as companies that don't outsource have far greater expenses. The reason is that the outside firm has economies of scale that reduce the price of their service therefore reducing the price of yours to a competitive level. One of the most prominent of the cost reduction benefits is that of labour cost reduction. Recruitment and training costs fall and this also lets you focus on HR issues that are more imperative. What’s truly effective about outsourcing is the amount of time and attention it saves. Managers can focus on more customer oriented aspects of business rather than other issues of lower priority that still require their attention. Through outsourcing companies can emulate the internal support services of larger companies. By doing this they achieve good economies of scale and all the other luxuries of bigger companies. And it is very evident that these companies in India specifically, have taken the initiative to outsource Indiaas it were.
Finally the omnipotent factor of business Risk can definitely be reduced through outsourcing. Every investment, decision, product and policy carries risk. Change is very apparent. The evidence is before the consumer's eye as well. Just 10 years ago you would be crazy to think of a music system that could fit in your pocket. And its not just technology as governmental, legal, political situations are changing rapidly. Since when you outsource you are doing so to professionals in their field and therefore they assume the risk responsibly and manage it efficiently. Therefore the change has little effect on operations.
So, after all this consideration, I think Russell Peters is going to have a tough time as a comedian making all the stuff that's going on with this field funny because it really is a serious factor of business operations that is going to remain essential to a number of firms in the future.

I have many old newspapers from the 30-40's with really nice comix strips inside. I saw on Ebay that some are going for a lot of money, so I was wondering if I put them up, would they actually be considered original comic strip artwork or do I actually have to have the original sketches? I was kinda unsure if they were worth anything. I see photos on Ebay but can't tell if they are newspaper clippings or actual art.
the only way to find out is try to put them on EBAY

Black and white photography is a number of monochrome forms in visual art. Monochrome comes from the Greek monochromos meaning "of one colour", which is a combination of monos, meaning "alone" or "solitary" and chroma meaning "colour".
Quite basic when you break it down!
For Many decades black and white photography dominated the scene until colour was introduced. From the 16th century when the brightness and clarity of camera obscuras was improved by enlarging the hole with a telescope lens until now, we still admire the purity of black and white photography. It was not until the 17thCentury, 1727 to be exact, when Professor J. Schulze mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask, that the first photosensitive compound was created. And in 1816 Nicéphore Niépce combines the camera obscura with photosensitive paper and created a permanent image in 1826.
In the past black and white dominated the media. Movies, television and even computers, were all monochrome. It was not until the middle of the 20th century that colour photography became popular.
Choosing a subject is essential for this type of photography, more so than choosing a subject for colour photography. While some subjects can look amazing in colour, they often look dull in black and white. Black and white photography is both the simplest and most sophisticated of all the photography disciplines. It is, honest, fresh, crisp and clean and can result in the most powerful imagery. Capitalising on its popularity, black and white photography holds its own when it comes to photographic exhibitions. Such powerful imagery can be timeless and compelling at the same time. It captures emotions, impressions, and atmosphere that depict nostalgia in a dramatic way.
In black and white photography, you will need to consider the exposure, your background, making sure that the subject is well backlit and that it does not distract from your subject. Lights and shadows are also important. For example, when you strip an image of its colour, you are left with the strictly light and shadows and subtle tones of grey. To experiment with this, you could shoot at different times during the day, that way you will learn the importance of light and shadows and how it can enhance the mood of your image. Colour is also important when considering black and white. Try and choose a subject that has fewer colours. For example; purple and green look great in colour, but in black and white, they become unrecognisable. Therefore, it is important to choose a subject that is of interest and dramatic at the same time.
Nowadays, we are seeing resurgence in black and white photography. The demand for it is rife within the media sector, such as advertising, and print form. Even consumers who want timeless photographs of their weddings and various family occasions are using black and white photography.
Most well known photographers use this medium of photography especially for people photography. From early portrait photography in the 18th century, black and white photography has had a huge impact on the success of modern photography. British photographer Julia Margaret Cameron (June 11, 1815 - January 26, 1879) became well known for her images of celebrities of her time. Even though her career was short lived, 11 years to be precise, she did not show an interest in photography until she was given a camera at the age of 48 years old. She favoured the close crop style of portraiture, a style that is still very popular today.
It is true to say that black and white photography is timeless. It can literally stop time. We only have to take a look at Ansel Adams work of the American West. Even today his images are provoking in every sense as if they could've been taken yesterday.
Of course the use of black and white vs. colour is a personal one, nevertheless, if it was not for the geniuses of the early part of the 16th century, we would not have been to capture time, of which is the essence.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles An RSS editor is a software application for writing and editing RSS feeds offline (i.e. on the local computer). These applications are also often called desktop RSS editors. Usually RSS feeds are automatically generated out of databases from Content Management Systems (CMS). Some other typical sources for RSS feeds are blogs and websites like Digg. However, there are also several, manually edited RSS feeds (mostly with editorial content), which are maintained offline. After the development and creation of such feeds in an RSS editor application, the feed file is usually transmitted via FTP to the web server. Most RSS editors offer a corresponding, integrated functionality for that. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Perhaps the most explosive technological trend over the past two years has been blogging. As a matter of fact, it's been reported that the number of blogs during that time has grown from 100,000 to 4.8 million-with no end to this growth in sight. What's the technology that makes blogging tick? The answer is RSS--a format that allows bloggers to offer XML-based feeds of their content. It's also the same technology that's incorporated into the websites of media outlets so they can offer material (headlines, links, articles, etc.) syndicated by other sites. As the main technology behind this rapidly growing field of content syndication, RSS is constantly evolving to keep pace with worldwide demand. That's where Developing Feeds with RSS and Atom steps in. It provides bloggers, web developers, and programmers with a thorough explanation of syndication in general and the most popular technologies used to develop feeds. This book not only highlights all the new features of RSS 2.0-the most recent RSS specification-but also offers complete coverage of its close second in the XML-feed arena, Atom. The book has been exhaustively revised to explain: metadata interpretation the different forms of content syndication the increasing use of web services how to use popular RSS news aggregators on the market After an introduction that examines Internet content syndication in general (its purpose, limitations, and traditions), this step-by-step guide tackles various RSS and Atom vocabularies, as well as techniques for applying syndication to problems beyond news feeds. Most importantly, it gives you a firm handle on how to create your own feeds, and consume or combine other feeds. If you're interested in producing your own content feed, Developing Feeds with RSS and Atom is the one book you'll want in hand.

By Ben Hammersley March 2003 ISBN: 0 596 00383 8 222 pages RSS is sprouting all over the Web, connecting weblogs and providing news feeds. Originally developed by Netscape in 1999, RSS (which can stand for RDF Site Summary, Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication) is an XML based format that allows web developers to describe and syndicate web site content. Using RSS files allows developers to create a data feed that supplies headlines, links, and article summaries from a web site. Other sites can then incorporate them into their pages automatically. Although RSS is in widespread use, people struggle with its confusing and sometimes conflicting documentation and versions. Content Syndication with RSS is the first book to provide a comprehensive reference to the specifications and the tools that make syndication possible. Content Syndication with RSS offers webloggers, developers, and the programmers who support them a thorough explanation of syndication in general and RSS in particular. Written for web developers who want to offer XML based feeds of their content, as well as developers who want to use the content that other people are syndicating, the book explores and explains metadata interpretation, different forms of content syndication, and the increasing use of web services in this field. This concise volume begins with an introduction to content syndication on the Internet: its purpose, limitations, and traditions, and answers the question of why would you consider "giving your content away" like this? Next, the book delves into the architecture of content syndication with an overview of the entire system, from content author to end user on another site. You'll follow the flow of data: content, referral data, publish and subscribe calls, with a detailed look at the protocols and standards possible at each step. Topics covered in the book include: Creating XML syndication feeds with RSS 0.9x and 2.0 Beyond headlines: creating richer feeds with RSS 1.0 and RDF metadata Using feeds to enrich a site or find information Publish and subscribe: intelligent updating News aggregators, such as Meerkat, Syndic8, and Newsisfree, and their web services Alternative industry centric standards If you're interested in producing your own RSS feed, this step by step guide to implementation is the book you'll want in hand.
