Email Marketing and Web Communication: Ten Key Tips to Get Your
Messages Read
There's an old saying ‘Manners maketh the man (or woman)' and
this still applies in the 21st Century, even though everything
now seems to happen twice as fast. Most people respond much
better if you treat them respectfully. People appreciate being
spoken to politely and you can definitely include consumers
here. Yes, if you are into Internet marketing, it may be a
hi-tech world, where bits and bytes circle the globe in the
blinking of an eye, but people still respond better to being
spoken to as a friendly equal. This particularly goes for
language in advertisements.
Here are some important things to remember when you are emailing
someone with a sales pitch.
1.DON'T YELL WITH CAPITALS: By all means use ‘caps' in your
message to highlight key points, but don't write whole sentences
in capitals. This is the online equivalent of screaming in
someone's ear. Bolding key points is a much better alternative
to capitalizing.
2.Be TIDY With FORMATTING: I read a lot of sales emails every
day, and it never ceases to amaze me how so many email
‘salespeople' - perhaps we can call them ‘e-sellers' - don't
bother to properly ‘dress up' their email messages. There are
many available email message formatting systems available, like
Formatit.com, which you can use to make your emails presentable,
and very likely, more profitable. Line breaks, you see, behave
badly in cyberspace, and, although your email may look fine as
you type it, the message could have line breaks all over the
place, when it's received. Sloppy presentation like this, sends
out a clear message that does not favour people buying from you.
Any sloppy line breaks are hard to read. An ideal line length is
about 50 - 60 spaces.
3.Write Your Ads Like You're SPEAKING to an INDIVIDUAL: When you
email someone you are, in effect, striking up a conversation
with them. You are hoping they'll take the time to ‘listen'. A
little bit of humour, a little bit of your own personal style,
will not go astray in your message. Be friendly and be polite.
Emails that are abrupt or too direct, can be read as insulting
or critical.
4.Say PLEASE and THANK You a Lot: As a web marketer, I always
start my messages by thanking people for ‘clicking in' to my
message. After all, they have taken the trouble to open my
email, ahead of possibly tens or even hundreds of others, who
they have not bothered to open. I always thank them for their
trouble. I know that when people are polite and thank me, I
always feel better towards them and welcome the respect.
5.Keep Your email Ads PUNCHY and SHORT: Email, by nature, is a
time-saving tool. It's quick and it's to the point. Keep you
message to the point and don't try to cram too many ‘sales
pitches' in the one email. It's very unlikely that people will
read the whole thing from top to bottom, so keep your selling to
six paragraphs or so. This is for emails you may be sending to a
safelist. If you are emailing your regular mailing list, perhaps
with you newsletter, then you can afford to follow the regular
format, which may be quite long. This is because you newsletter
subscribers generally know what to expect because they hopefully
have read more than one edition.
6.ENTICE Your Readers to READ to the BOTTOM: If you want to send
a longer than usual e-mail sales pitch, it's good strategy to
put a paragraph in, near the top, saying something like ‘If you
read to the bottom of this email, you'll find a great no cost
download'. Teasers like this are very effective and may even
prompt readers to immediately scroll down to the bottom to check
out what they can get.
7.AVOID the Word FREE in Your Message: Why, because the spam
filters will get you. While FREE might be the most attractive
word in email marketing, it's also one of those that spam
filters will likely detect to block your message. You need to be
a bit creative. Instead of FREE, why not use words like ‘no
cost, ‘gratis' ‘give-away', ‘gift' or ‘bonus'.
8.AVOID Too Many SYMBOLS: Those of us old enough to remember
cartoon comic strips, will remember how cartoonists often used
symbols to show a character ‘swearing'. Such as, ‘Why You #@!*'
Too many symbols in your message could have the same effect -
making your message confusing and unfriendly to readers. Use
symbols sparingly and to draw attention to important points.
9.DON'T Have Too Many BLOCK Paragraphs: Although grammar purists
will tell you that paragraphs can have many sentences, so long
as they are on the same topic, use short paragraphs of only one
or two sentences. Short is better, because these days, people do
not want to read great slabs of text - they will simply tune
out. You can also highlight key points in your sales message,
simply by isolating them in one lonely sentence.
10.EMAIL People As You Would Like THEM to Email YOU: This sounds
a bit biblical, but really the same applies in general life. Try
to put yourself in the reader's shoes after you've finished your
message. Would you like to have such an email sent to your
in-box. Would you find such an email polite and friendly? If
anything ‘jolts' as you read your own email, make sure you
soften it with further friendly communication.
You will likely find that showing some ‘manners' in your email
communications, will translate into greater profits and more
buyers. Thank you very much for reading this article and best
wishes to you in your endeavors.

In Marvel Comics, who is Spider Man's worst adversary ever?
To those who followed the series since childhood up to current issues, there sure were a lot of those villains that appeared to grace his many battles. From crooks to people with special powers (due to freak accidents) and what have you, I bet you know what I'm talking about.
So, who do you think is the worst one that Spidey had a hard time putting down? Let's see how well you know this hero.
The Second Green Goblin (Harry Osborn) . He was Spider-Man's best friend and worst foe. Or maybe The Black Cat. She was a lover, enemy and friend all at once. Venom. He knew too much about Parker and Spider-man. He got quite personal.
Issues Included in this LOT: 85,88-91,93-96,98,99,101-109,111
Beginning its life as Hero for Hire, this series introduced Luke Cage, the bulletproof, freelance super-hero. When Cage adopted the name Power Man, the series changed to follow suit, switching with issue #17 to Power Man...
"Exploding out of the blood-strewn streets of Shadowland: the all-new, all-different Power Man! Who is he? Why is he one of the few heroes to oppose Daredevil's rule over Hell's Kitchen? And what is his connection to Daniel Rand's School of Thunder dojo...

There are thousands of comic book characters in existence from past to present. Many are well known while the majority are more obscure to the general public. And while top ten lists are generally subjective and based on opinion, there are certain comic book characters that will be discussed in this article that are worthy of that distinction by most standards. These are in random order.
Superman - There absolutely cannot be a top ten list of comic book characters without the Man of Steel. He's one of the first (arguably THE first) superhero to ever grace the four-color world, and thus his history is one of the richest. He's also one of the most popular in both comics and worldwide as viewed by the general public. He represents truth, justice, righteousness and morality. And while many find it hard to relate to him, those same people look up to his characteristics and admire his altruistic spirit.
Batman - Not quite so altruistic, but every bit as popular and loved is the Dark Knight. He may not always do the right thing, or do it the right way, but his motives are always pure, and his intent is always clear. He's a thinking man's hero, but he's also a warrior's hero. He's well rounded and complete, and a little bit gritty, and that's why we like him.
Spider-Man - The boy next door; the everyman; the geeky kid a great majority of us can relate to who overcomes the odds and becomes something great. Spider-Man gives us hope that we can achieve that same greatness in our own special ways. He truly is a standard bearer and a true hero to the core, always trying to do the right thing, but many times messing it up horribly, thus proving he's still human, and thus endearing him more and more to our hearts.
Lex Luthor - The arch-nemesis of the 'Blue Boyscout', Superman, Lex Luthor is all kinds of evil wrapped up in money and a well pressed, expensive suit. He's diabolically clever and vicious, and he never lets Supes sleep on the job. Cementing his legacy as one of the greatest villains of all time, Luthor wins our allegiance for the depth of his character and his driven purpose.
Captain America - Maybe not as popular in modern times as he was in the days of World War II when he first appeared on the comic scene, but still a symbol of America and classic comics from the Golden and Silver ages. Captain America is displaced and so he views the world a bit differently than the rest of us. He sees things the way they should be in his mind, which isn't always the most popular point of view. He's often portrayed as a boy scout, but truthfully he's much deeper than that, and that's where the appeal lies.
Wolverine - Overused or not, Logan is one of the most popular comic book characters in existence today. When he first burst onto the scene in the revitalized X-Men he quickly gained an everlasting fan base because of the difference he brought to the table. He's not your typical do-gooder hero, though he always does fight for the right causes. He's temperamental, at times insecure, rude, crude and unpredictable. He's a loner with a heart of gold and a penchant for violence. He's an anti-hero who takes no crap, but at the same time he deeply cares about those he surrounds himself with. And it's those complexities that make him stand out in our minds.
Wonder Woman - The first widely received female superhero, Wonder Woman is by far the most popular female comic book character to date. She comes from a world where women are dominant, which gained her popularity early on in the women's liberation movement. She stands head-to-head and toe-to-toe with any male superhero, and she shows them up oftentimes. She's a strong, beautiful, intelligent and yet still feminine heroine with a costume that has become more than iconic.
The Joker - The thorn in Batman's side rightly deserves a place on this list for his epic battles with the 'Caped Crusader'. Of all comic book characters in the superhero realm, there is none quite like the Joker. He's maniacal, insane, and ruthless, yet charming, smooth and debonair at the same time. He's a mass murderer and a child killer, and he's obsessed with Batman. He's just too crazy not to love!
The Flash - If underoos and t-shirts are any indication, The Flash is one of the most noticeable and popular iconic comic book characters of all time. He's a fan-favorite of comic readers and non-comic fans alike. He's known worldwide and his trademark red costume with the white circle and yellow lightning bolt are instantly recognized. But more than appearance, it's his powers and his wit that land him on this list. He's one of the original comic relief superheroes in the genre with his sarcastic and humorous banter that rivals that of Spider-Man. And who doesn't love super speed powers? He's the best at what he does.
The Incredible Hulk - Mr. Green Genes himself has to make this list merely for his iconic status in the world of comics and beyond. He's a classic hero that has gained notoriety through comics, television and film. And with the popularity of the second Hulk film that just released, his star will only continue to rise. Couple that with the massive success of Planet Hulk and the Incredible one is a force to be reckoned with. Whether it’s his intense power, or the dynamic between that power and the weak, but intelligent alter-ego Bruce Banner, we love him no matter what.
There are many other comic book characters that could have easily made this list, like Magneto, Iron Man, Robin, Green Lantern, Professor X and so many others. The names represented above, though, are undoubtedly some of the greatest comic book characters ever created.

If you could buy the individual comic book issues cheaper than a graphic novel, would you?
It seems like a lot of comics come out in individual issues and then get collected up into a trade paperback/graphic novel at around the same price. Which would you buy if the sum of the individual issues were significantly less than the cost of the collection? Why?
i would go with the indiv. issues
graphic novels are a sham. they're just products at a higher price point. A Lexus with a Toyota Camry engine.

Taking the evolution of the comic book as its subject, this History Channel documentary stands out by merit of its comprehensive scope and insight. Beginning with the early days of 1930s vigilantes and the patriotic characters of the 1940s, the program reveals the current complexity and range found in the pages of contemporary graphic novels, and explores the ways that cultural climates and popular attitudes are reflected in comic books. All the heavyweights weigh in, including Neil Gaiman (THE SANDMAN), Frank Miller (THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS), Stan Lee (SPIDER-MAN, THE SILVER SURFER), Kevin Smith (CHASING AMY), Will Eisner (THE SPIRIT), and others. Keith David, who voiced Spawn from the TV show, narrates the program, which is presented by Peta Wilson (LA FEMME NIKITA). In addition to the star-studded cast, however, the documentary has a lot to offer fans and neophytes alike, with analyses of the role of collecting in the comic book world, and the creation of such seminal entities as DC Comics and Marvel as well as characters like Dark Horse, the Incredible Hulk, and Wonder Women. Contextualizing the innovations and progress of the art form, this documentary is not just an important exploration of the graphic arts, but a fascinating look back at the shifting cultural concerns of a nation.
COMIC PARTY hilariously parodies classic anime/manga, and those who make and consume it. Taishi, a die-hard anime fan, coaxes his unwilling friend Kazuki to a fan comics convention. Little does he know that Kazuki's true purpose in life is to take over the world using the comics! The comic spoofs never stop, and classics such as GUNDAM and EVANGELION are fair game! In these episodes, the festival arrives, and Taishi is running the show (while Kazuki does all the hard work!). Even though he has a lot to do, Kazuki is still fixated on COMIC PARTY. He's not sure which path to choose, but he'll have to decide quickly, with only one week left until the big convention.

Comical And Sweet: The Pomeranian
The Pomeranian is a favorite among the toy groups. Its endearing fox-like face and comically poofy coat are almost irresistible. However, the Pomeranian is not for the traditional quiet, clinging lap dog. The most independent of the toy breeds, the Pomeranian does not cling to its owners. This little (3 to 7lbs) guy's claim to fame is his giant personality. These active toys are notoriously animated, inquisitive and busy. So, if you are looking for a big clown in a little body then the Pomeranian is the dog for you. His antics will keep you entertained as well as attract attention. And although independent, their fierce loyalty makes them great companion dogs.
Ideal for those living in small spaces, Pomeranians make great apartment dogs. They don't need much exercise and spend most of their day taking naps. However, be prepared to keep them entertained while they are awake. Pomeranians are chock full of energy and they need to be entertained or they can develop behavioral problems and destructive habits. They are notorious chewers although with proper stimulation this behavior can be taken care of with a few chew toys left lying around.
Worried about how this tiny little dog will fare with your other household pets? No need. As long as they are properly socialized they get along with other dogs as well as cats. However, please consider your neighbors' sanity before committing to more than one Pom. They are vocal dogs (females less so than males) and when in groups the chorus of yapping can become a bit much.
Although they are cuddly and loveable, Pomeranians require a lot of attention. Along with their entertainment needs, the soft, thick undercoat and coarser outer coat need to be groomed daily or else they develop painful mats and tangles. They also shed constantly so be prepared to become well acquainted with lint rollers and a pet hair specific vacuum. The undercoat also makes Pomeranians unsuitable for warmer climates if they will be spending extended periods of time out of doors. Their voluminous coats count for about 50% of their apparent size and they are prone to overheating.
Surprisingly, these tiny dogs make great watch dogs. They have a classic case of big dog trapped in tiny body. They are cocky and commanding and rarely back down from anything. Their resounding warning bark can be heard far and wide although its tiny size does not manage to come off as much of a threat. They tend to be reserved with strangers and can bark excessively at new people. It is a good idea to start obedience training early and teach your Pomeranian to bark a few times as an alert but then to ‘be quiet for heaven's sake'.
A note of caution: this little dog is all personality and your baby's cute little personality quirks can easily become inappropriate behaviors if they are not loved with a firm hand. These little tricksters need to know that there owner is the boss or they will not listen. They can become demanding, pushy, and snappy if they are allowed free behavioral reign. And while these dogs make good companions for elderly people, they should be closely monitored around very young children. However, they are fine around older, well behaved children.
Pomeranians are also prone to certain physical ailments. Early tooth loss can be a problem so while it is tempting to spoil them with canned food and table treats, the main part of a Pomeranians diet should be comprised of dry dog food to keep the teeth and gums in good condition. You should also make sure that your vet gives your dog regular teeth cleanings. Skin problems and eye infections can also be problematic especially as your Pomeranian ages.
But don't let these potential problems deter you. When making your breed decision, keep in mind that every breed of dog comes with its own caveats, and with the right mix of discipline and love their delightful natures can flourish.
