What kind of stamp album shoud I use for collecting?
I've been trying to find a stamp album or binder to hold my stamp collection. There are no stores in my area that sell anything. I would like one that has pages with clear "pockets" to hold the stamp as opposed to using hinges or mounts. I do not want one with preprinted pages for stamps since I like to create my own collection.
I don't want anything too expensive, probably something around $20-$30 if possible.
Also, where would I be able to buy a preforation gauge?
Since the hobby is less popular than it used to be, it's difficult to find local stamp dealers with shops. You can search the web for philatelic supplies or stamp albums and purchase what you need by mail order.
I don't live in the USA so I can't be more helpful, but there is an American Stamp Dealers Association that should help you find a supplier for your needs. Try http://www.asdaonline.com/
Besides a stock book and a perf gauge, you'll need stamp tweezers, and often a magnifying glass comes in helpful.
