What should I buy to hold an original comic art page?
it's 11x17 inches and is an orginial inked sketch.
fyi ... the page is from a comic called Harbinger (issue #1). It was penciled by David Lapham who is currently selling the whole issue page-by-page via e-bay.
There are several ways.
The cheapest method is to polybag it with a cardboard backing to help prevent bending and folding. I wouldn't recommend this method, however. Polybags have been known to degrade artwork over time.
Second, you can have it mounted in a clear, acrylic case/frame. While more expensive than polybagging or picture frames, it will preserve the artwork for much longer, and is much, much better at preventing unwanted folds/bends, and keeping outside elements from degrading the work. You could choose to have a professional mount it for you, or you can mount it yourself. This is the method that I would recommend.
Finally, you could buy a simple picture frame of an adequate size, and put it in there. Unlike mounting it inside of clear acrylic, however, there is a higher chance that outside elements (dust, insects, etc.) could degrade the artwork. This is the middle ground between polybagging and acrylic containers, and the best solution if you're on a budget but want something more effective than polybagging.
