Requiem for Jack Kirby $12.78 One of the most storied graphic artists of the 20th century, Jack Kirby was a legend in the comics world. Requiem for Jack Kirby is a post-bop salute to this visionary comic artist by percussionist Gregg Bendian (here on vibes and occasional glockenspiel) with his regular collaborators Nels Cline (alternating between clean and melodic Wes Montgomery-like guitar lines and harsher sounds like the angular, staccato plucking of "The Mother Box"), no-nonsense bassist Joel Hamilton, and flamboyant but not over-aggressive drummer Alex Cline. Although most of the tracks take their titles and inspiration from Kirby's work, the centerpiece track is the rapturous 17-minute elegy "Teaneck in the Marvel Age," which revisits Bendian's comics-besotted mid-'60s youth by setting up an almost nostalgic post-bop groove that recalls some of Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane's settings of the period, then periodically interrupts it with squalling solos by the Cline brothers that recall both the era's at times violent unrest and the inspiring effect of Kirby's unorthodox storytelling and vivid fantasy worlds on a young man's imagination. SHOPPING AND SELLING - How Can I Get the Most Money Selling an Item on EBay?
Follow these tips to increase the bids on your eBay items
The trick to maximizing bids on eBay is providing as much high quality information as possible. That means you need a keyword friendly title line, clean photographs, and plenty of information in the description.
The item title. Don't underestimate the importance of crafting an effective title. You have just 55 characters to describe what you're sell¬ing. Don't waste them including come-ons like "L@@K!" or "Amazing," because buyers don't search for those terms. It's amazing how many sellers add these useless words to the title line. Stick to the keywords a buyer is likely to use when searching: brand names, model numbers, artist, subject (of an art piece), genre (e.g., "retro"), etc.
For instance, if you were selling a classic comic book, you'd want to include the title, the artist's name, the issue number, and any special characters that appear. "FANTASTIC FOUR #49 JACK KIRBY SILVER SURFER GALACTUS" will show up in searches of people looking for Fantastic Four comics, Jack Kirby comics, and comics in which the Silver Surfer or Galactus have appeared.
Take a look at the way other successful sellers on eBay describe items similar to whatever it is you're selling and follow their exampIe. Often, they use a specialized collector's jargon to succinctly convey important information. Find out what the jargon means and use it in your title.
Photographs. eBay allows you to include one photograph on the item description page at no charge. That's usually not enough. Buyers want to see plenty of sharp, well-lighted photographs taken from all sides of the thing they are bidding on. Additional photos cost just 15c each. It's money well spent. Don't be afraid to show any damage, scratches, or other defects the item may have-full disclosure only gives potential bidders additional confidence that you aren't trying to swindle them. eBay has a short tutorial for taking good pictures with a digital camera.
Description. The idea here is to present the facts about the item in a clear and straightforward manner. Don't waste bidders' time with flashing red letters and hyperbole. Use a plain white background and list the things that bidders are likely to be interested in. Repeat the information in the title line, and then go deeper: Does it come with all the accessories and the user's manual? Do you still have the original packaging? Are you the original owner?
