I want to know the whole story of FINAL FANTASY from the beginning. From where do I start ?

I have just played final fantasy crisis core and i loved it. The story seems very interesting. But from where does it start? Is this a series of games or movies? In which order were the games/movies released? In which order should i play/watch the games/movies so that I will know the exact story?

    all the ones i’ve played so far have different story’s, really the only two that I’ve played that have had a connection were final fantasy 10 and 10-2, whereas say two of them like final fantasy 4 and 3 and 10 have no connection.

    I believe most Final Fantasy games are not sequential — meaning the stories do not carry over to the next game and so on. Each game has a story unique to itself. However, you will sometimes see character names from previous Final Fantasy games which are just neat easter eggs.

    it won’t matter. None of the final fantasy games ive played interconnected, except for x2, and that sucked.

    Even the movies won’t connect to the games, save advent children. ( the anime, you will want to avoid. He does the same crap over and over again, like sailormoon or dragon ball ).

    If you want to start with the good ones, go Final fantasy III(6 in japanese), 7, 8, 9, 10. 11 is an online MMORPG, and 12+13 i havent tried yet because i fell out of it.

    You are talking about Final Fantasy VII.

    They were not released in chronological order, but the game you played is a ‘prequel’ to the original game, Final Fantasy VII. Which means that it was made after the original, about the same world and characters, but tells about events that happened before the original took place. Final Fantasy X has a true sequel, X-2, and they can be played in that order.

    There was a Final Fantasy movie, but it is completely unrelated to any of the games.

    Other than that, the Final Fantasy series is not an ongoing storyline. That is, Final Fantasy III has nothing to do with the plot and characters of Final Fantasy VI, VII, X or XII, etc. Final Fantasy XI (11) is an online only MMORPG.
