I've been playing Final Fantasy X, and I really enjoy the battle system, but I want to know the exact way it works. If anyone can give a very detailed description, I'd really appreciate it. I do understand the basics, by the way. I have gotten far enough to know how to strategize with it, but I want to use it in something I've been working on.

FFX uses the CTB battle system. the CTB system is a turn-based format that pauses the battle during each of the player’s turns, so the CTB design allows the player to select an action without time pressure. A timeline on the upper-right side of the screen shows who will attack next, and how spells used has affected the order. you can control up to three characters, and replace them with another character at any time. an overdrive, highly damaging special attacks, can be used once a character gives or takes enough damage to fill the meter. most of the techniques require button inputs to increase their effectiveness.
the aeons yuna can summon arrive and entirely replace the battle party, fighting in their place until either the enemy has been defeated, the aeon itself has been defeated, or you dismiss it. Aeons have their own stats, commands, special attacks, spells, and even Overdrives.
final fantasy ten (x) works on a turn based fighting system. this means, players take turns, along with the enemy. time does not pass because of this, so if its your move and you just stand there, you wont be attacked, because its your turn. there’s the basic controls like attack, magic, item, whatever. if you are at the top of the list you can push left or right to choose to defend or switch equipment. defending means you will take less damage if attacked, and switching equipment will end that characters turn. if you choose to attack and an enemy is selected, it will tell you a something about it, along with its health and weaknesses once you have the scan ability. pushing L1 i believe, will bring up your other members who can join the fight. it also shows their health and magic i believe. thats the basic run down i believe. if you want to know about black and white magics and summons, reply to me. hope this helped
