Question for Comic Shop Employees.....?
I am curious about the cost you pay for your inventory per comic.
For instance how much does it cost to buy a new release comic from Diamond Distribution that you sell to your customers at a retail price of $2.99. Just curious about what the profit margin is.
I am also curious why the price of comics tend to increase so quickly. it seems not that long a go I was paying $1.50 and then $1.95 for a new comic. Hell, they were 40 cents when I was a kid!
I'm not sure about how much comic producers spend on comics and the profit that they make. I do believe that the price of comics increased so much so quickly so that the publishers wouldn't have to increase the prices so often. Comics were $2.25 a few years ago and then they jumped up to $2.50 shortly that. I think they basically decided that just bringing it up to $2.99 right away would allow them to keep the price at the same level for a longer period of time so that they wouldn't get b****ed at by buyers for a longer period before they have to increase their prices again (due to inflation of course). And I'm sure they don't mind the extra 50 cents an issue in the meantime.
