is captain marvel from DC or from MARVEL comics??
i thought captain marvel was from Marvel, but then i saw this episode of Justice League where superman beat the hell out of captain marvel's A_S_S.. can someone tell me something about this character??
In a way, both. The character you saw on Justice League is the Fawcett Comics creation known as Captain Marvel. He gains his powers by yelling "Shazam!", which is also the name of the wizard who bestowed these powers upon him. DC bought the rights to the character in the 70s, after the character was outselling Superman in the 40s, resulting in DC filing lawsuit against Fawcett for copyright infringement (they said the two characters looked too similar). DC won on appeal. This Captain Marvel appears in Shazam! comics.
Marvel has had several characters named Captain Marvel. The first & most famous was Mar-Vell of the Kree Empire. He was introduced during the 60s, & used Kree Nega-Bands to grant him great powers. This Captain Marvel is deceased. Others who have bore this title are Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers (at least in the Ultimates universe), Pulsar (who was also known as Photon until the third Captain Marvel wanted to take this name), Genis-Vell (the genetically-engineered son of Mar-Vell, who has also been known as Photon, & is now deceased), & most recently Phyla-Vell (Genis' sister, who may also be deceased). Marvel has said a new Captain Marvel may emerge soon, perhaps during the events of Civil War. For more information, try the links below.
